Gtx 480 or 560 ti

Hey everyone,

I'm getting a new video card for my gaming rig and I have found two video cards which are in my price range, which one would be better for my build? the gtx 480 or the gtx 560 ti? I know that the 480 would give me better performance, but I am worried about power consumption and heat, my power supply is a corsair 600W and my case is a stock HAF 912. My CPU is an I3-2120, although I may upgrade to an I5 eventually. I will not SLI them in the future, because of electric costs though.

Thanks again.

Edit. Would a 6950 be an good option as well? I don't know if you can still unlock them or not though.

  1. 480 will definitely perform better, however, your power supply is probably cutting it close.
  2. GTX 560 (non-ti) is like overclocked gtx 460...
Whereas, gtx 560 Ti is roughly 20-35% more powerful than a 460. It also runs cooler and has more efficient power consumption. It is almost as powerful as a GTX 470, for me it is the best card out there for its price performance.

GTX 480 is faster and a very good performer, but as you said it's power hungry, designed to run in heat..it runs very hot, and you forgot to say it's noisy.

EDIT: I would go with the GTX 560ti.
