I have a Xonar DG and im loving the options for stereo headsets (Dolby Headphone, 7.1 virtualization, etc.) but I have a very nice TV in my living room and would like the best setup.

I have a 7.1 surround setup,
DA5000ES amplifer

The Amplifer is abit outdated as its only multi-channel imputs are analog.. usually for double layered CD's and DVD players. Is there anyway to convert HDMI to multi-channel analog ?

As far as I know my only options are to buy a Xonar DX and get 5.1 compressed or use stereo upscaled to 7.1 I've heard compressed 5.1 is very low quality and im thinking mabey there are programs that can convert original 6 or 8 channel sound into stereo for upscaling in a 7.1 speaker system? Thats my queestion. What are my options? Thanks alot.

7.1 virtualization is garbage. Rely on an AV receiver, not a sound card for surround sound setups.
