[3930k] New Build Question

I was just wondering if there's anything I can do to make my computer run faster, certain times I tend to see some lag when opening up Chrome for say. It is on my SSD. Any suggestion would be a great help.

If I wanted to do an SLI, would it have to be same card or could I get ASUS GTX 680 Direct CUII? Is their anything else I can do to make my computer run better? I will be keeping this computer for a while, so not so worried about the money. I want it to working amazingly as well as look good. I have been reading around on OC, but if someone has an easy link they can give me, it would be much appreciated.

Why 3930k? Yes this is a primarily gaming computer, but I got the 3930k and the rampage IV as a present.

So the parts are,

Processor: Intel i7 3930k ( No OC yet, reading up on it, so will probably run it up to about 4.5 GHZ i'm thinking)

Motherboard: Asus ROG Rampage IV Extreme

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100 (I will be doing a custom loop soon, probably within the next 3 months, kinda new to the building all)

Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8gb) 1600 (PC3 12800) (maybe I should up the ram to make computer run faster, due to my motherboard having quad channel, Maybe?)

GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 680 2GB (is this a "reference card"? Should i up this for gaming or will this be fine at 1920x1080 for now)

Sound Card: ASUS Xonar Phoebus (I just looked really cool, had to get it

SSD: Mushkin Cronos 240GB (Windows and games on here)

Secondary Drive: 150GB VelociRaptor (Older 3 Gb/s)

Third Drive: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB

Case: NZXT Switch 810 Special Edition Gun Metal Gray

First of all the reviews on that sound card are not very good. It seems it doesn't have support for BF3. If you play BF3 don't get that sound card; if you don't, you should be fine. Here- is a substitution for the card that you pick it is IMO a much better deal as the other card was overpriced an gimmicky from the reviews I read.

What speakers will you be using?

You need quad channeled memory for it to run on your motherboard-

The GTX 670 is 95% of the GTX 680 for 100$ less and it will max out every game @ 1080p too-

Do you already have that VelociRaptor drive? If you do not already I strongly recommend against getting it. Get a 1tb 7200rpm drive for a storage drive- . What you want to load quickly can go on your SSD the rest goes on there.

Here is a better SSD- . It is on the much more reliable indilinx platform and actually runs to the speeds advertised (unlike sandforce drives)

I recommend that you pick the matte black version of that case- because the gunmetal grey I have read in reviews is very shiny and leaves fingerprints very easily.

Are you going to overclock before you build a custom loop.

The case is sexy, just wipe it down with micro-fiber cloth & for the love of god don't be grabbing all over it.

@mjmjpfaff I already build the system, and currently using it. I use a PC360 headset and some 5.1 speaker system(dont know name). So you would recommend changing out the ram to a quad channel or just adding on?

@iendigma indeed the case is very nice. When i build it I dodnt have enough money left over for some case fans and light. I'll post pics when the lights get in.

Anything else I can do to make it run faster?
