$750 build for bf3

I need a build for around $750 that can max out bf3.resolution in 1920x1080

More about build
  1. I'm not sure you can max out at 750 with quality parts. But you can do at least high settings.
  2. You can, but not without sacrifice. (Note: this probably wont do max settings, but it would do med-high)

Case at minimum will cost $60. HAF 912
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233&Tpk=HAF%20912

    CPU will cost $125. i3-2120
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115077

PSU will cost $70 unless you get cheap and nasty off brand crap. Corsair 600W Builder series
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028

Motherboard will cost you $80 at minimum. Biostar Z68
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138344

HDD will be $65 for a 500GB drive (refurbished no less). Caviar Blue 500GB
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236028

    RAM will cost $45 for a decent 8GB kit. G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB 1600Mhz
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314

This leaves you with $350 to spend on the GPU. Gigabyte HD7870.

So while possible, I had to cheap out on every component except the GPU, you may just have to re-arrange your priorities.
  3. Honestly I play on a setup close to this one. I play on high settings NFP. Say what you want about it but it's more than capable.

  4. Chalk you like the HAF to much =D

    yep, there awesome.

And the 912 is the cheapest case of good repute, so it my instant solution for budget case problems.

I had this one pointed out to me in another thread for budget gaming.

Not a bad case if you ask me. Plus I think it looks better than the HAF.
  7. With a 7870 you can play bf3 on ultra with 2x AA, just disable motion blur its a resource waste and its not needed at high fps and looks ridiculous.

i have a phenom II 955 with a 7870 and it runs at 60fps with a min of 45 usually.

    Heresy!

Goddamn that case has everything and it does actually look good. That may just topple the 912 from my budget position since its only $5 more on Newegg.

Possibly, but there is some flaws here.

Don't get a Green Drive for your main HDD. most of them run 5400RPM which is very slow.
If you're going to run an h61 board you dont need a K series processor. Get a 2400.
The Sapphire is a good card depending on what you're paying for it. If you're buying new at $220, then I suggest getting the GTX 480 for $200 on newegg. It's a faster card and performs a lot better (I went from a 6950 to a 480)

  15. Im buying a hd 6950 2gb 256bit and will the psu be enough

You can get a blue drive from WD they work good too.

EVGA makes a 480 on newegg for 199.99. Dont be scared by it being 2 generations old. This thing is a slam dunk in price vs performance. It still smokes a lot of the 7000 series AMD cards for the price.

It is faster than the card bigcyco linked which is 27.55 more in price. Of course the 480 does use more power and gets hot. But the card is rated to get hot. I use one overclocked on air and it just smokes. If you know how to OC you can get these things about the same specs as a 580.

Yes, AMD cards are always pretty low in power. You'll be fine.

Looking about 200w Max TDP with the 6950 2gb

So i will grab a i5 2400 and a hd 6950 will that be enough or i will change the gpu to gtx 480 im not scared that its generations old im scared at will it break my pc or not
  19. with a 500w PSU get the 6950. The 480's are known to push the limits =)

But yeah 2400 and 6950 will get you to high settings.
  20. A 480 will violently beat up a 6950 lol

I'd get a 600w just to be safe. You probably wont get close, but it seems you're buying cheaper branded PSU's. So I would get 600w. If you were getting a Seasonic or something I'd be comfortable telling you that you'd be fine at 500w.

Will it not break my pc
  25. My psu is a corsair cx 500
  26. paolo220 said:

No it won't break your computer. If it hit the power threshold it would most likely just power down your computer. But honestly you wont hit it.

The system you have built would not probably pull more than 350w at full load. But I'm being lenient with your PSU. If you want a lower wattage PSU for your build invest in a good branded PSU.

    Think of it like this.

You're trusting 600+ dollars of hardware on this one piece of hardware. Say you spend $50 on it, and it fries your mobo/cpu. You just wasted more money replacing all 3 of those rather than investing in a good PSU to begin with. I've seen this happen at Lan parties. One guys crappy PSU that's overloaded on one power source. Trips a breaker and fries 3 computers. Don't be that guy!

  29. So this is my final specs:

    I5 2400
    EVGA GTX 480
    Western digital caviar blue 500gb
    Corsair cx500
    BitFenix Merc alpha
    G.skill Sniper 8gb 2x4 1333
    Lg dvd burner 24x dvd+r
    Samsung s22a/b300 led 21.5 1920x1080
    Asus p8h61
  30. Will this be able to run it on high setting and what framerate

considering I use the same GPU with a worse CPU and I run on high-ultra you should be fine. I can't tell you the framerate though.
