Where to put this wire?

Last response: in Systems

I have a HAF 922 and there is a red cord coming out of it. I know it is for the esata plug in front panel but where in the mobo do I plug it into? There are 3 different ports, 6gb, z77 6gb, and z77 3gb. Does it matter which one?

And also I have an ASUS P8Z77-V and I can't seem to find any wire that is the 1394 wire or the "firewire". Do I need that?

And where is the search forums tool?

More about : put wire

The 1394, no you will not need except in rare cases. I got a rather new motherboard and i believe it doesn't even has that connection.

About that case, i doubt you will ever use an esata. Now if you do by connecting it to the 6gb port it will be compatible with devices that can support it, the ones that cannot will just have slower speed.

Something i do not know is what speed the Esata can support, as far i as i know Sata 3 uses a different wire than Sata 2. Nevertheless even if the wire cannot go up to full speed the port will make it work at the speed the wire can support.

I am not completely sure about this one but as far as i know those are ''just'' different sata controllers.

Example: Motherboards tend to have different LAN controllers ( assuming it has more than 1 ethernet exit )

I assume your motherboard has SATA 2 too. You could connect the Esata there except if they are full of course.
