CPU Installation Screw up?

Hey guys I just bought an Intel i5 3570k from Micro Center and a Gigabyte Z77x-UD3H Motherboard combo. When I was installing the CPU I did take out the cpu from the bracket one time and I accidently set it on the metal piece that surrounds the chip *not the thing that clamps it down* I dident put it any pressure on it but I was holding it when it touched it. Im hoping to get my PSU friday to check if everything is working but in the mean time could have doing that messed up the CPU in any way?

Chances are low, I have seen people do worse things to a cpu such as putting it on a bed or in one case on a carpet. In all cases it still worked. SO I think your fine.

Thanks a bunch! I couldn't imagine putting a cpu on a bed or carpet!
