Will this upgrade work out for my system?

My system is as follows:
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad processor Q8300 [2.5GHz, 4MB L2, 1333MHz FSB]
4GB DDR2 Ram
1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 220
250w PSU (stock)


I'll be upgrading my ram to 8GB DDR2 as well as my graphics card to a EVGA GTX 550 Ti Fermi 1GB 192-bit. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how big of an improvement I'll see (mostly FPS-wise) in current games such as Star Wars: The Old Republic, Diablo 3, etc.

Obviously I'll be upgrading my PSU as well to a 500w Rosewell ATX12V.


Will this upgrade be bottlenecked by my system or will I see a huge performance improvement in most games?

That would be a huge improvement, and no I dont think a gtx550Ti would be bottlenecked by your cpu. A lot of the Rosewill powersupplies arent very good..take a look at this one:,http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027 you could actually get away with this one too:

Thanks for the response...I accidentally posted this thread twice in a different forum. My mistake if anyone sees the other, didn't think I posted in the right forum the first time.


Your first suggestion seems fine to me, I don't mind taking a higher watt at a slightly higher price because I can keep it for a new machine once this one finally bites it...

Good choice, dont skimp on the power..and its more about the quality than the quantity.
