APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: (e.g.: this week (the closer the better)) BUDGET RANGE: (e.g.: USD $150-250) Before / After Rebates

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, LoL, Minecraft, Age of Empires 3, Possibly Crysis battlefield 3 or skyrim

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: HD 3000, OCZ ModXStream 600W

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: i5 2500k, Gigabyte GA-Z77X-ud5h, Storm Enforcer, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus, XMS3 4x4gb 1600

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Doesn't matter, i also have a microcenter nearby(they dont have the best selection) USA

PARTS PREFERENCES: Probably no XFX, PowerColor, maybe Visionteck, I have been looking at the MSI Twin Frozr and EVGA graphics cards

OVERCLOCKING: Yes SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920 x 1080
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I've been looking at 560 Ti 448 cores and 7850's but since i dont need more than 1 monitor and the games i want to play arent that power hungry, do i really need a 560 ti or 7850, maybe a 6850 or 6870 will do, i heard the 6850 is better overclocking plus it has more variety. about $300 and lower is fine cause i want to use the $75 in rebates im getting back. I'm not sure the extra money is worth it for the higher end ones i dont need.

Should I wait for the 660 ti to come out?

Well it all depends if you are in a hurry or not. The GTX 660 tis are going to be really cool. There price tag is a little high. But I will link you to some bench marking so you can check it out for your self.

You have to remember all bench marks are not 100% on the money. They are using one kind of GPU's and not all GPU's are the same the number is the same but what is in it is not.

For example the cards 7850 reference will bench a lot different than a 7850 superclocked one will. The bench marking is a tool to help show you on avg what the card is doing.

One more problem I saw with your rig is the PSU in on the do not buy list I will link it to you right under this line. Tier 1=best Tier 5=worst. Yours is on Tier 4.

When you put money into your rig the power supply is the most inportant piece of hardwear. If that goes nothing works and it could take stuff with it. Mine is junk to. Anyway good luck and I hope this helps.

7850 vs 570 which is real close to a 560 ti 448 core. The 570 has 480 core.

Thanks for the benchmarks and also it's tier 3 if I checked correctly, it's modXstream not ModStream before 2007.

Although these benchmarks are nice I want to know through experience or opinion whether or not one or the other is worth it.

Turns out I'm using a dual monitor setup so I guess that's important.

I'm probably not going to play too high graphic intensive games but I think the possibility is there.

Since i have the 75$ extra that means i can probably spend more.

You are right it is on Tier 3 my bad. Since you have a 2 monitor get up you should get a card with at least 2GB of Vram. The newer GPUs are using less power so if you get the 7850 it will run on a lot less power.

Since I like nVidia, If I could get it today I would get the 560 Ti 448 core. I have herd a lot of good things about it and how easy it is to OC'ing it. Only problem with that is they don't make them anymore.

So when they are all gone that is it. If you are not in a big hurry then wait for the other 6xx series to come out. Today they just released the 690. It is two 680's on one self contained water cooler board. $999.99 is the price.

Wow just think having two of them in SLI. There would be nothing at the moment that they could not handle anything thrown at them. Anyway what I have said and done is it. So I hope you find your answer and good luck on getting the right card.

Man, I so wish I saw this list before I built my first computer. Now I'm stuck with an Ultra LSP 750W, which I think is probably around tier 3 or so. I could have ended up with a much better computer had that been the case.

Despite that, I also own a Cooler Master eXtreme 500 (Tier 4), Dynex something (trying to get rid of it) and a Thermaltake TR2 (tier 4/5). I need to start buying better stuff. Thanks for the list DM186.

Well eventually I did figure it out. The Thermaltake TR2 is actually holding over alright, since its not being stressed (965+5770) and the Dynex I've had since the dawn of time and its being used to hold a system over till I can buy a newer better one, but its been in there more than I would like. My Ultra LSP in my main computer isnt actually that bad at all, and the Cooler Master eXtreme isnt too bad either if you put it on a lower power system, since it doesnt meet its power requirement.

Yeah even if they are bad PSU's they tend to work for people who do need high power requirements. Take my for instance. Mine didn't even make the list but I think mine has something to do with cooler master.

But not sure. After learning about my PSU I became worried but my CPU and my GPU's are a little OC'd and I run 7 case fan's and the lights that came on the fans it does ok so far. I watch it very closely.
