Nforce 3 Ultra from gigabyte
Gigabyte 6800GT agp.
1 gig ram (2 x 512 high performance OCZ kit)
74Gb Raptor 10,000 rpm sata drive + 120 wd 7200rpm drive
20.1" LCD w 12ms response

so whats missing. what can i get to completely pimp this out. lol. should I buy myself an X2? replace the mobo and go with a 7800GTX?

I play games mostly. watch movies, compress / decode osme occasional video's / audio

or should i just take my money elsewhere

Money elsewhere.. there is newer socket/cpu coming in the next years that should worth the wait considering you already have a nice system.

Buy the biggest bottle you can, of your favorite booze. When you've finished drinking it, rebuild you rig inside the bottle. You might want to get an MT turion to do it with.

I had a similar question. See the P4c rig in my sig. I have this WANT to get a better platform (case/PSU) and a 7800gt & double my RAM and a mobo with more SATA ports and all that good stuff.

But I get the feeling to sell current rig, then spend $500 to upgrade the case/PSU/video and the CPU to socket 939 3700+ would not be worth it with the socket M2 around the corner?

I should probably wait until next Fall ('06) and go with an "NVIDA-8800 card or ATI-equiv" and a dual core socket M2 & DDR2 ram (what happen to DDR3 soon?) and all that good stuff...?

Should the AGP 6800gt, 1gb RAM, and p4c 3.2 hold me until next fall as far as games go? I hate turning details down too much...

Unless you have a specific task that you need to go faster, like complex computations or video rendering, don't upgrade yet. You have a nice rig for now and wouldn't be happy with an upgrade.

I would stay away from hookers. Instead, he should go his nearest video rental store & pick up some adult movies. It is safer and cheaper form of entertainment. He don't have to blown all his money on a blown job. As they say, do it yourself and save money.
