CPU steppings mobo compatibility

I installed an AMD Athlon 64 x2 4600+ E6 on an ASRock 939NF4G-VSTA mobo. However, it doesn't appear to be working. ASRock CPU support list mentions revision E for this model CPU but I didn't see E6 specifically. Another CPU expert site mentions that revision E6 is compatible for this board. Is CPU stepping backwards compatible? Does stepping E6 work on a board where the support list mentions stepping E?

It should be compatible, socket 939 motherboards were pretty much all compatible with the whole production line of s939 CPU's.

Thank you very much for the quick reply....I was getting confused because the dealer I bought the mobo from claimed that the board may not support the cpu revision. i guess i have to check for other types of failure, then.
