Needing new vid card

OK i just got a new pc and needing a few upgrades. here is my current rather weak set up..

AMD Athlon II X4 645 processor 3.1 GHZ
6 gig ram
1 terabyte hd
Nvidia Geforce 9600 gt vid card
with a 500 watt power supply

I am trying to think of small ways to boost my performance on this thing. I know i need a new vid card but i need something roughly the same size as this and for about $100 to $125. I am also having overheating issues and forced to leave the side off of my tower. anything that can be done about this as well?

I suppose this isn't a new PC, but a used one. Reseating CPU heatsink and reapplying thermal paste could help with temperatures. Cleaning the dust would help too.

What is your power supply exactly? Can't help without complete specifications.

What will your use your PC for? Gaming, movies or office work? Maybe 3d modelling?

i will use it for mostly light gaming but i plan on playing Diablo 3 alot when it comes out. I am from Indiana

Your best bet is HD 6770:
XFX Radeon HD 6770 - $109.99 before rebates.
