5.1 Output?

I was wondering if there is a sound card that would act as just a digital 5.1 output that i could connect directly to my Sony 5.1 home theator reciever via Optical or Coaxial connection? I dont want to waste money on a 5.1 decoder for my PC when i have a Home theator 1500W Made by Sony.

I believe the SB Live Platinum and Hercules Game Theatre XP both have that capability. The Live 5.1 series have a digital out, but it's a 1/8" connection, not optical or coax.

yes and no I have used the card exactly like that except not with the addtional optical output. sound quality wise It's pretty good, but I have not yet hooked it into a 5.1 system. But heck for that price what have you got to loose?

Not much, but of course that's on Ebay, not typical retail.

It must be decently popular or hard to get, since it's backordered for $15 <A HREF="http://stores.yahoo.com/newtech/zolnigpcisou.html" target="_new">here</A>. Couldn't find it for sale anywhere else.

You can use the Suondblaster Live Value and then by a Hoontech SB-III card to send the digital signal. Also, Creative sells miniplug to optical jack at their website which can be used as well.

If it works for you then don't fix it.
