Hey all

Recently bought a replacement CPU for my old computer today, but it's underperforming in the games I play; I suspect the clockspeed is the culprit? Why is it doing this, what can I do to stop it?

Specs:

E5300 2.6GHz Dual core
4GB DDR2 800MHz
8800GT 512MB DDR3
DG965SS Intel Motherboard
1TB HDD@7200RPM

How are you determining the clock speed?

Both the bios & CPU-Z

-Update bios.
-Check front side bus vs processors external bus speed
-Probably Intel Speedstep is active, use Prime95 or OCCT to stress out your cpu and then look at your clockspeeds.

I've tried both, P95 goes with no errors, OCCT gives an error but I have no idea how to interpret

I've tried updating bios & turning speedstep off, no prevail.

There something an option that save the watt, it in the bios at startup, u can disable it so ur cpu always run at the highest clock speed.

A bit googling will nelp u
