Not sure if this is the appropriate place to put this, but.... I am wanting to do a basic, but perhaps not so simple, case mod.
On my friend's Alienware, whenever he opens the case door to work on the inside of his computer, a bright white LED light turns on illuminating the inside. I love it the concept, and it beats holding a flashlight in my mouth while trying to work on something.

Problem is, how the heck do I create a switch that will turn the thing on when the side panel is open/off, but while the power to the rest of the system is off? (Note: It can be battery operated if necessary). I'm not an electrician by any means, but I feel this should be an easy mod; then again, I have no idea where to start.
