Just looking for a general purpose card to put in a friend's old system. I found a GT 210 for 20 bucks online, but do you think the system could handle more? Like a GT 430 or hd 6450? Or is it a waste to get more than the GT 210? Thanks.

The 210 and 6450 are more like productivity based cards, but if he is not doing any gaming, they aren't bad choices.

I have a 8800GTX on my 4600+ and it bottlenecks alot some higher end games (hey a bottleneck is better than no graphics at all), but that runs alright as well. A nice power supply is required for that one though.

Of those choices, the GT430 or a GT440, like mentioned above are nice. The 6570 or 6670 are also nice choices.

If the friend is not gaming, the GT430 is the best choice, since it would have a lower price.

Well, I cancelled the hd 6570 order and got a GT 430 instead because i read that sometimes pci-e 2.1 x 16 cards don't play well with older pci-e x 16 boards, and it's working great. Runs a bit hot IMHO, but it's a warm system anyway so that's probably it. Dialed up the fan speed to 80% and no problems.
