Monitor shuts down after 5 seconds

on start up monitor shows shutdown in 5 seconds. The pc stays on but monitor goes to sleep. Tried a different video card with no change.

Is it a LCD monitor, Ive had old monitors do that to me when the capacitors are going out. If you can shine a flashlight on the screen and see if you can see the screen. You have tried another monitor right? I dont really understand your response above.

Check your cord is plugged in correctly- When mine is pushed in to far or not enough the back of the monitor I have that issue.
