PSU and motherboard prob

i have just about finished assembling my new pc when i noticed that the psu has only a 8 pin 12v power supply but my motherboard uses a 4 pin 12v power supply. what should i do

a 12 volt 8 pin can be used on a 4 pin "socket" if there is room to let the other 4 pins "overhang" on the side.
