Hello,

First time poster here. I've been doing tons of research on cards in the $100-$200 range and I've locked in on the 7770 and 6850. From the looks of it, the 6850 is more powerful than the newer 7770, but the latter runs quieter and more efficiently. A lot of the reviews I've read about the 7770 upon it's release all pointed to the 6850 being the better option in terms of a pure power standpoint, but that was back when it was around $179.

Now that the price has fallen to about $15 below the 6850 on Newegg, is it the better buy for someone looking at cards at-or-below $150?

Oh, and the most demanding game I will be playing will be Guild Wars 2.

Welcome to the Forums.
Well, the HD 6850 is a little faster than HD 7770 in most titles, but the difference between them is not "day & night" And i believe whatever you'll go with will meet your demanding with a pretty good resolution and eye candy.

If you're concerned too much about power draw get the HD 7770 but, temps and noise aren't far from each other.

the 7700 series gets its power directly from the pcie slot so if power is a concern thats your best bet. the 6850 is a faster card tho and makes a powerfull crossfire

edit: only the 7750 uses pcie only power @ 55w, the 7770 uses 80w which is 5w to many but still a cool low power card
