Hi,

I have just purchased a Cannon Pixima iP8500 and whilst it produces
great colour images I am having trouble with B/W.
I am fairly sure this is down to gas fade in the paper turning the print
a selenium tone, I am using Brilliant Gloss paper.
My question is if any of you produce large numbers of B/W prints and if
so what papers are you using to attain a stable print. I note that the
Cannon paper which came with the printer holds the tone without fade.
Would profiling the paper be an acceptable alternative to changing
papers. Brilliant paper is very economical but only if I can maintain a
stable B/W tone.

Regards

Try Ilford Gallerie Classic (as opposed to Smooth). I've had good results
with it and my S9000, better than Calumet's Brilliant. And it's only about
a buck a box more.

I have noticed with the S900 and now my new I9900 printer, that for a good
B&W print I choose plain paper, as this seems to use only Black ink only,
not mixing colors to make B&W. It seems to work for me.
