You should always get the best single card available and avoid multi gpu setups on a new build. Too many issues with quadfire. You need a motherboard with 4 pci-e x16 capable lanes and a case large enough to fit all of this. I have 4 pci-e x 16 lanes but the a double spaced gpu in the bottom slot touches the top of my power supply and is in the way of some of the motherboard connections. You can also count on all of your cards getting starved for air and running much hotter. Also, the majority of games work with 2 gpu's only. There are some like bf3 and dirt 3 that work well with 4 gpu's but there are more that will not work than ones that do work. Go with one 7970. You will be able to max any game at 1920x1080.
