Hey my name is Drew and for the past three weeks iv been looking into upgrading from my "ok" gaming laptop, and build a gaming desktop. Tho is it my first time with a gaming build I did build a basic PC in middle school via some government grant program, so i got a good idea of what im doing but would like some perspective on what i want out of this build and if it makes sense.

Ok so here it goes

[1]Approximate Purchase Date:[The sooner the better after I get the info i need so i can get to gaming]

[2]Budget Range:[Around $1600 but no more then $2000]

[3]System Usage from Most to Least Important:[GAMING!!! is about all other then standard web and what not ]

[4]Parts Not Required:[I got a Razor Naga and epic, Zboard Doom 3 edition. Also got a 17" hd tv as my monitor. Might buy some speakers now or i will use my Turttle Beach Earforce PX 21 for now.]

[5]Preferred Website(s) for Parts:[Im cool with Newegg, ,Microcenter cause it close to my house, Amazon, and major manufacturer ex G.skill, ASUS, etc also open to ones I don't know that you do.]

[6]Country:[Good old U.S.A. (Ohio)]

[1]Parts Preferences:[Reliable since this is my first gaming build]

[2]Overclocking:[YES PLEASE, but nothing major cause iv never overclock before and don't want to break my parts after i get them.]

[3]SLI or Crossfire:[SLI because I want to go Nvid but for now ill just be going with a single GPU. Also im going NVID because of all the AMD driver problems iv have in the past on my gaming laptop]

[4]Monitor Resolution:[Have a hd tv 17" i will be useing for now but when I move out I plan to get a 50 or 60 inch TV so all i will have is a Uber PC and a tv with Enet]

[5]Additional Comments:[Since this is my first build id also like it to last me awhile like 3 or so years if that sounds reasonable and only minor upgrades as the years go on.]

Ill give you the run down of what I was thinking of getting and my reasoning. PLZ PLZ PLZ let me know if there are flaws in what im thinking of so i dont bottleneck and i also get the most out of the parts im getting. Thanks!

Tower: "IN WIN Dragon Rider White" due its sweet look, full tower, multi-fans, backside CPU fan, and future expantion options

Also was looking at the THOR V2 White. Any reason to go with this other then lower price and dust filters?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811147158

MB: ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE LGA 1155 Reasons why: dual band, built in WIFI so i don't use up a PCI-E slot, kinda matches my case lights.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] V%20DELUXE

Have also been looking at the RoG ASUS Maximus V Formula Mobo. Also it does not have built in wifi witch i can live without if its a better board then the Deluxe above.

CPU:Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) Its rather new witch is good for me keeping it for awhile, and K for overclocking.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819116501

RAM/MEM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Its dual band for my witch ever mobo i go with, only two stick for future upgrade, heat spreader (not sure if i'm just blowing my $$$ or not plz let me know if its really needed)

CPU Cooler: CORSAIR H100 This is kinda a gray area for me but it seems to be a good brand for the price. I know it fits the Thor V2-W tower but i was most likely going with the Dragon Rider. Not sure if it will fit in the Rider or not. How would I check. Not looking for insane cooling just safe levels for OC.

OS: Win 7 64x premium (got to get away from vista)

SSD: OCZ Vertex 3 VTX3-25SAT3-120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal I want this SSD for my OS, and core games like STOR, D3, WoW, and what not for faster boot and load times.

HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal This is for everything else like mouse drivers, CCleaner, vent etc

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6822148697

Not really wanting to go with a RAID build at this time because again this is my first build and can always do that later.

GPU: EVGA 02G-P4-2678-KR GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP I was first looking at just the GTX 670 but im cool this the extra 20 dollar throw down because I read it was a bit cooler then the non FTW in overclock.

PSU: This is a pitch black area for me. Ill need at least 500 because on the spec on the GPC needs a "Minimum of a 500 Watt power supply. (Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 30 Amps.)" Also is it a good idea to go with a little more then the 500 for any reason other then SLI?

I know this is alot and I hope i dident leave anything out. Please let me know what you think and if there are any compatability isues with what im thinking of going with. Thank you very much and I look forward to hearing from you.

You could save some $$ for other stuff by getting just a mid tower which would still support all your requirements.

Take a look at Enermax or Seasonic PSU's for quality, depending on what power demands your rig will require you may decide to go 650-750W.

Oh, and buy American, look into Mushkin brand RAM, awesome price to performance ratio.

Also, you only really need the i7 for multi-threading, which isn't needed for gaming. Save some money here too & go for the Intel Core i5 3570k.

These savings would allow you to go for an even better GPU, think 4 gigs.
