Been wanting to switch over to Nvidia for some time now. Going to wait a little longer for the 680 drivers to mature, but I plan on selling my two Sapphire 6970's for 1 GTX 680. Wise choice? Dumb choice?

Running at 1980x1050.

It is usually hard for one card to be better than two cards in SLI/Crossfire , the 680 is a very good choice for a video card and you should try to see if there are any benchmarks that show a single 680 and includes two 6970's in Crossfire.

In this benchmark that was run for a three way SLI 680 they included a two way SLI 680 and a single 680 , there was also 2 6950's in crossfire and the result was that the two 6950's performed better than the single 680 so it stands to reason that 2 6970's would also beat the single 680. The benchmark article went on to list other games and for some reason this place did not have two 6870's but did have two 6950's and from what I saw...

all depends on the performance your after.

you will find its very simmular in performance going from 6970 CFX to a single 680.

you will reduce power consumption and microstutter (if you had any)

is there anything that ur CFX setup is not doing well enough for you?

If you plan on later down the road picking up another 680 then you should definetly go with the 680 otherwise it's a tossup to decide which to go with.

Depends what you're after.
You do get rid of the microstuttering and you will lower your power consumption as said earlier.

But when it comes to raw performance it will certainly be a step down.
On the other hand, at that resolution the gtx 680 will handle current games very well anyways.
