New build often freezing

Hey.
I have just recently purchased a new i5 rig and after installing the OS and all required drivers, the machine seems to be freezing a lot and running slow without reason. I was looking for some advise on what I can do in this situation.

Did you update your MOBO driver ? i.e Go to your MoBos website and dload the new driver ? ( not the ones off the CD ) Did you update your BIOs ? Did you update Windows ? Did you set your RAM timmings and volts in your BIOs ? DID you triple check that all the cables and snapped in tight to the MoBo ? Reset the GPU ?
^ if yes to "all the above" its time you run a memtest on your system is see if your RAM is bad, go download memtest and run each stick of RAM for 6 hours.
