the title says it all. which one is better the 2011 socket vs 1155 socket at the same price point, i realize there wil be more power usage and slightly higher clocks but other then that are there any huge improvements from one another. also i hear something about them releasing ivy bridge 2011 cpus soon, would that be worth the wait for the new cpu or the price drop of the sandy bridge 2011's
the cpus im comparing

any advice would be appreciated, as i can not find any benchmarks on the i7-3820

It would depend on what you're going to be using your rig for and your overall budget.

The i7-3820 may cost the same by itself, but the entire platform is overall more expensive. If you take a look at X79 boards, they're generally $100-$150 more expensive than a decent Z77 motherboard.

However, generally speaking, the i7-3820 is slightly slower than the i7 3770(k) due to the Sandy Bridge architecture. The i7 3770k is based on the Ivy Bridge architecture which is around 7% faster clock-for-clock.
