what make of PSU?
[srtike]quite a few 400 watt do NOT have a 6 pin PCI power connection. that will matter.[/strike]
nevermind . .i looked at the budget again.
XFX HD-667X-ZHF3 Radeon HD 6670 1GB 128-bit DDR3 $79.99 $6.98 Shipping http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150542
$64.99 after mail-in rebate card
but if you can do the rebate game that ASUS EAH6670/DIS/1GD5 Radeon HD 6670 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 inzone posted below is sooooo much better!
Here are a few for you to look at and if you look at the chart you will notice that the HIS 6750 is the highest ranked card on the chart along with the 5750. From the Nvidia side the GTS 450 would be the higher ranked card.
i just realized with your budget there is no need for an adapter. sorry my fault.
If he gets one at the top of his budget there are a few that require a 6 pin connector. Like the 6750 and with a rebate it will fall into his budget range.

wouldn't the 6670 with DDR5 be close to competing with that?
