Computer won't boot

Hey guys.

So I went ahead and bought the computer upgrades I asked about a few weeks ago, but now it won't boot after a day of use. The system and CPU fans will spin up for a second (if that), and then the whole thing shuts down and tries again a few seconds later.

Computer specs:
CPU: Intel i3-2120
Motherboard: Gigabyte B75M-D3V Micro ATX
RAM: G.Skillz 8GB
Gfx: XFX Radeon HD 6770
PSU: Thermaltake 550W (can't remember the exact model, it's quite old)
Sound: Soundblaster Audigy 4

Given the fact that it doesn't post I assume it's a hardware issue. Any ideas? Much thanks!

if it ran fine for a day then died..look into replacing the power supply or asking if a friend has one you can use for testing.

did the paper clip test on the motherboard and the fans spun up, however I do not know if this is actually indicative of a working power supply. I shall however, see if I can borrow a friend's
