Which Graphics card option is a better idea?

Me and my friend are both looking to upgrade our systems. I am going for the XFX 6870 . My friend is going to crossfire the XFX 7770 with another one just like it. I'm not sure if he is getting that 7770 or another of the 3 in the series. In your opinion which idea is better and for what reasons.

Any one would work with his HD 7770, the first one is just overclocked more than 1 GHz (the black edition) if he has a black edition XFX just get him the same, If he doesn't, whether you get him the black edition or the normal one it will work with his current one.

be noted that when 2 cards have 2 different clock & memory speeds the faster card will downclock itself to match the slower card or you can overclock the slower card and it's very simple to do.

2 HD 7770s gives better performance of course. Single HD 7770 is a bit slower than HD 6870 originally.

That's in case of single card vs single card, he's talking about crossfire.
