How to get my 3rd monitor to work

I have the ATI Radeon HD 5670 Graphics card and for a while I had 2 monitors running, using the HDMI and DVI ports. I got a VGA monitor so I decided to use it as a 3rd display so i got the a converter from displayport to vga and it had reviews that said it works with eyefinity and it did work but only as for 2 monitor at a time so i did some research and found the official eyefinity site were the gave me a link to a displayport to dvi so i got that and got a dvi to vga but again i can only run 2 monitor at a time

ps.i only want to run 3 monitor i dont care about eyefinity

More about monitor work
  1. can you link your card?

EDIT: For eyefinity to work, the DP to VGA/DVI/HDMI must be an active DP not a passive. Also, all monitors must be the same resolution.

the strange thing the card that shows up on the ati website does not look like the one i have and i check 3 times

first the place i bought it
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227244

second from the catalyst control center> information >hardware

    third run>Dxdiag>display

i hope you can still help
  3. i the converter is active and i dont want to use eyefinety just 3 independent monitor
  4. Who makes the 5670 card in the system? Do you have a manufacturer part number for it? Something like this http://www.amazon.com/Accell-UltraAV-B101B-003B-Display-Adapter/dp/B003HC85D2 should work if the card has displayport. Another option is using a dvi to vga adapter on the dvi port for the vga display. Then use a displayport to dvi active adapter for the dvi display. Provided the adapter and driver is working right enabling the 3rd display should be the same as enabling the 2nd.
  5. That's what i meant, the brand name and model of your card. Also, what monitors do you have? Size and Connections?

EDIT: Also look at this guide

You can't use a dvi to vga adapter on a DP to DVI active adapter because it is strictly digital. Where you want to use the dvi to vga adapter is the dvi port that is physically built into the card; it should be a dvi-i (5670) port which has analog and digital. Then use your dvi monitor with the DP to DVI active adapter with a straight dvi to dvi cable. You must also be running win vista or 7.

not easily but i can give it a shot
    you think that the problem
all of the monitor combination work fine when its just duel screen
  14. I think the problem is the many converts you do, and the VGA monitor.

yea the thought had cross my mind but i saw the fact that all the monitor work individually and in pairs as a sign that it was a software problem not a hardware that why i ask this community i was hopping that someone can give me a technical reason why it did not work
