That's what Windows says when I give it the .inf from D-Link's website. Is the "DSB-C100, Ver B 2", from D-Link in a clear case. It connects via USB. There aren't any default drivers in Windows that will work. Anyone have any ideas? If you can help, you'll be able to see constantly updated pictures of me. Wait, come back!! I promise I won't put any pictures of me up if you help. Oh, too late
If it's XP I'm surprised it doesn't work off the bat. Everything USB worked on my system, and I didn't even have to install drivers. How about making sure PnP is enabled?
For some reason I've always had PnP disabled in the mobo... do things work better when it is enabled? Or is it the combo of enabling PnP and running XP?
I've had some problems with my PC Cam aswell (in XP)... maybe this is the problem?
I ususally have it disabled too, but that's only because my network card won't work at all under linux if PnP is enabled. Works like a charm once it's disabled though...
Windows XP. It detects the hardware, but won't install.
BTW, I'm having the same problem with an adapter I got that goes from a PSX/N64 controller to USB. The .inf file supposedly doesn't contain any info. I've opened both with notepad, and it's not like they're just empty files.
Download the latest drivers off the Internet. I have a USB digital camera and before Windows XP recognises it as a Polaroid 1320 I have to install the PDC1320 drivers for it. So go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for your hardware.
This is fascinating - after having trouble (but ultiimate success) getting my USB camera to work in linux, I switched to XP and failed totally.
Why do people tell me that XP is better for hardware? It only works when the manufacturer has a driver! XP really is a difficult OS to get to grips with. Just the basic installation is a real pig.
