Dell XPS 400 Graphics Card Suggestions

Hey guys,

I know this topic has been addressed in the past a few years ago so I figured i'd see if there was any new advice/input.

I have a XPS 400/Dimension 9150 currently with a nvidia Geforce 6800 graphics card. I was thinking about upgrading that in anticipation of D III being released in a few weeks.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what card I could put into my system without replacing the PSU or anything else?

I think i read that a HD 6770 (http://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-HD6770-PCI-Express-HD677XZNLC/dp/B004Z5GRVW) might work but I just wanted to make sure it would be compatible and wouldn't require any other upgrades.

Or does anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks a lot I really appreciate it!

  1. The info you gave us is absolutely useless. We need power supply model and specifications, and motherboard model to find out whether you have a PCIe slot. Sorry, but it's pretty much impossible to help without that info.

    He has a pcie slot
    "System Slot 0 PEG In use"
    PEG = PCI Express Graphics

    The psu is a 375w/30a unit with a 6 pin connector
    I beat one to death in a similar system first running dual 8800GTS 512's on it, then a GTS450 with a 9800Gt for Physx, then running Furmark for a few weeks with a GTX260OC
    Used another to power a GTX460TOP in a C2D system
    Have yet to see how fast my GTX570 could make one go pop, but have one waiting to play with
  3. Do you think it is worth paying about $110 or so for a http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/amd-radeon-hd-6000/hd-6770/Pages/amd-radeon-hd-6770-overview.aspx#3

    Does anyone have any other suggestion of a card I could put into my system to replace the Geforce 6800 for around $100 or so that would be a bit of an upgrade?

    I'm not looking for crazy graphics or anything, just enough to run diablo 3 when it comes out in a few weeks.

    Thanks alot, i really appreciate any suggestions!
