will COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 fit asrock 970 extreme3?
curious if anyone has tried this combination since this heatsink is big and this board has fan headers so close to the cpu.
like the motherboard but thats the only thing im worried about before ordering.

The ATX standard specifies even how much room around a processor socket . The cooler will fit

But some RAM sinks might be too tall , and that should be your concern

Mount the cpu , cooler and RAM before installing the mb in the case

The cooler makes an excellent handle to move things

hm ok thanks, was planning on using G.SKILL Ripjaws Series..
thought i read somewhere u could mount that heatsink horizontally or vertically.
was thinking it would go vertically so the fan would be blowing towards rear case fan

G.Skill Ripjaws and Corsair Vengeance standard profile RAM will not hinder the installation of a 212 Evo. I can verify that.

So long as your motherboard is of ATX form factor (Maybe even smaller?), the only factors you need to worry about are if you have large, exotic shaped heatsinks on your motherboard or ram, or if you have a small case. I just got myself a Hyper 212 Plus and that thing is a beast monster. (he-man reference XD) Fits in an Antec Nine Hundred, which is sufficiently big but by no means huge.

yep fits fine in a rosewill ranger case and mounts vertically.
good cooler, temps drop almost instantly when load gone and keeps phenom ii 965 under 40° idle/55° load even when its about 32° in this room since its summer and no ac.
