Better choice?

If you CF HD 7870 with HD 7850 you'll end up having 2 HD 7850s in CF and of course they will give you a great performance over HD 6970. The new HD 7xxx series consume less power and run much cooler than the previous one.

Also, a single HD 7850 is in the same level of HD 6970.

I think the op was talking about the 7970 which is significantly faster than the 6970. In fact the 7870 is abt the performance equivalent of the 6970 (in fact is slightly better)

also going by this thread, it would seem that the 6970 is at the moment better than cross fired 7850s. I would presume this gap would increase with the 7970

HD 7850 is about the same as the HD 6970. HD 7870 is almost as strong as GTX 580.

Yes. Assuming your system can handle it.

Btw any reason why you are not considering the GTX 680 from nvidia? It's only 30dollars more and significantly more powerful

well, the main reason being is i live in the netherlands were the price differences are a lot higher in most web stores i find. Ranging from 100-150ish for some reason. But the GTX 670 does look pretty damn good

That's actually true, the GTX 670 is the best bang for buck right now it's very competing with HD 7970 itself @ stock speeds.

agree there... 670 is what you need... too much value for money!
