New build, video doesn't work?

I just got done with a new build, made sure it powered on and everything in it powers on. I closed up the case and hooked up a DVI cable from the computer graphics card to the monitor and set the monitor to DVI mode and "DVI Signal not found", even the onboard DVI port produces no video.

Anyone have any ideas why this is happening and how to track down the issue and fix it?

Solved. I had to remove the ivy bridge processor and put in a sandy bridge processor, and it worked fine. Then I had to update the BIOS so it would support the ivy bridge processors. Then I put the ivy bridge processor back in and now it works fine.
