Green Dots

I have a mediocre system; AMD 5200+ Dual 2.7GHz, 2Gb RAM, Nvidia 7600.It used to run games like modern warfare 2 and mass effect 2 smoothly, but all of a sudden these green dots started appearing and now they're on every game except fifa 12. I installed the latest GPU drivers but it seems it made things worse, now when i'm playing something the terrain is just black and if you move the camera a bit the whole screen goes black. Is there anything i can do?

Sounds like your video card is failing.

Try cleaning out your computer case, blowing the dust from your GFX card making sure all your fans are clean. This sounds like a common overheat problem. If it doesn't go away you can try to remount your gpu cooler, then if that doesn't work you can try to reflow the card, but for the value of that card you can get an upgrade quite cheap.

Reflowing and remounting the cooler can do wonders. I got an extra 18 months out of a failing 8800GTX by doing that - four times!

I had this problem before with my graphics card, I sent it in for RMA and they claimed nothing was wrong with it but they gave me a new card that magically didn't have the dots anymore.
