Was wondering if there's a way to get the 3570k working with the Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 board. I mean it's the same price as the 2500k with overall better performance. I was told a while ago that I could flash the BIOS to Ivy Bridge to get it compatible. Can some one confirm this? If it's true how would I go about doing that?

Please don't say get the Z77 board because I'm not. I already have the Z68, no point in wasting more more.

As long as you have a sandy bridge cpu already, so you can flash to the bios version to where ivy bridge compatibility was introduced before installation you'll be fine.
