Dont really have money right and if i can i'd like to not spend much on upgrades
When it comes out, will an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5Ghz, Corsair XMS3 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz bottleneck a GTX660 Ti?

Hoping to play games in high to ultra settings, 1080p, in a 1920x1080 monitor, especially fps games like BF3.
And yes i am aware the 660 will be coming out around 4-8months.

Should be ok but if not you can always oc it a bit..

yes it will bottleneck in cpu dependent games that may occur you should overclock your cpu till 3.2 ghz or more if u can to avoid bottleneck

660 Ti? it's not there yet. Rumors says it'll be released on Q3 2012, but yes it could bottleneck.

EDIT: Sorry, I don't add details here, we don't know how the card will be, but we expect it to compete with 7870/7850 (Performance like 580 or 570). If you would, at that time you might have money to get a processor+motherboard+ram+cooler combo

According to 3d Mark Vintage, my Q8200 bottlenecks my 9600GT. And I am more than sure that 660 Ti will be bottle-necked like a beer bottle.

9600 GT? No no no. How can '3d Mark Vintage' tell you that something is bottlenecking?

EDIT: Oh yes, if you could stay with your GPU for a while and upgrade your CPU+Motherboard+RAM+(Cooler) first, I think it's a better choice.

+1 to sunnk. It will bottleneck. But overclock will not always avoid bottleneck for games like witcher 2. I am still experiencing low fps on witcher 2 after OC my cpu. :(  But other games is alright. So its always better to upgrade to new cpu.

Yea, what GPU do you currently have wren? I mean you could always get a new Motherboard and CPU and snatch up a 500 series GPU or 660 ti later

I have not planned on starting to PC game when i built my this pc that i use now. So i got a GT240.

I have just managed to OC my cpu from 2.5 to 2.8. I dont think ill be able to OC to 3.2 with just an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro + i dont really know how to get that high.

Ive just managed to OC just by using "auto" on the voltage in the BiIOS and just changing the FSB (to 374) cause i read somewhere that changing that is the one that changes the frequency. I dont really know how to change the voltage to get higher freqs.

I was able to get my Q8300 to 3.0Ghz easily on the stock Intel cooler running perfectly stable. FSB at 400. I will attempt to get higher once I get an aftermarket cooler but for now I'm happy. Also I'm planning on getting a 660ti very very soon so I would love to see peoples input on a bottleneck with cpu at 3.0Ghz.

Hey for some reason my asrock g31ms cant take more than 3GHz it simply wont boot so how would 3GHz with the GTX 660ti and Q8300 work im hoping to see a positive answer :D

Hey there, I'm currently at 3GHz with the Q8300 and do you think that's enough? If I over lock it higher than that it simply won't boot I did lots of. Research but couldn't get. A valid statement I'm hoping to see a good answer and I have a crappy old case that can fit the card do you think I eill need excessive amounts of cooling? I think my case is fine I can leave the side cover open lol and my CPU temps are around 30-40 degrees Celsius when I idling I need your feedback ASAP Thanks :D
