Considering a mobo and CPU upgrade, knowledge requested.

Hello all. I am considering upgrading my motherboard and my processor. I am a gamer and I look to maximize as much as possible with my budget. I really don't want to spend more than $350. I am set on intel processors and Asus or Gigabyte boards. I currently run with a Q8400 and a GTX 560ti (which I plan on SLI'ing at a later point). I just purchased a XION AXP-700K14XE 700W ATX SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80+ Bronze Modular Power Supply (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817190031) so I don't think power will be an issue.

I was looking to upgrade my mobo to:

and my processor to:

I was really wondering how much of a performance difference I would get overall and in BF3 with just the one gtx560ti

  1. You would get quite a significant performance boost going from your current rig to an i5 platform. I would highly recommend the ASRock Extreme 4 Z77 along with the i5 3570k. It'll run you aorund ~$350 and will give you the option to overclock in the future :)

    Said components -

    Extreme 4 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

    i5 3570k - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
  2. How will this translate for gaming. Will I see a much better performance in BF3 with the 3570k over the q8400 with a GTX 560?
