I will be getting a job over summer, but this will be a first time build, so I want a computer that is still pretty good, but not too expensive that if I mess up, most of my efforts go down the drain. I want to play games such as BF3, Arma 2, Metro 2033, Crysis DX11 on ultra settings with 60 fps minimum. If anybody can assuage my fears of destroying my computer if I make a mistake, I'd greatly appreciate it. In addition, I will use this computer in college.

Would anybody be able to make a $600 desktop that will run those games? If not, will anybody please criticize and help me change my $1000 build?
I can find parts that will run them on ultra for sure, but I'm not so sure about the $600 area.

this build can max out the games you listed on 1080p. the build you suggested can play games at ultra but not at 60fps consistently

the monitor i suggested is a newer and thinner model. also uses half the energy compared to the vh236h

i live in canada so i dont know that much about the US. if you send them a message asking for hep, they will respond within a day. they have very good customer service. never really shopped at newegg since their shipping is usually double the amount than ncix
