I bought a new computer because i had lag on my older pc
gigabyte ga-m720-us3
phenom ii x2 550
sapphire 4890
3gb ddr2

My new computer is:
ASRock 960GM-GS3 FX
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
MSI GeForce GTX 550 Ti OC 1GB DDR5
KingMax 4GB DDR3 1333MHz
Seagate 500GB SATA-III 7200 rpm 16MB Barracuda
Recom Power Engine 450 Plus II

BUT i still have the SAME lag in games not even with 1 fps has improved
The game i tested was battlefield 3, it drops to 20fps with ultra and very strange LOWEST settings possible, same drops in fraps
I also tried metro 2033, it drops to 15fps and coh blitzkrieg mod that is also unplayable

What in the world can be the problem ? The only thing i not changed was my monitor phillips 19" so i ask you guys can be the monitor that causes LAG?

20fps on ultra with that GPU is normal. Make sure that you don't have a lot of programs open. Open task manager, and look at how much RAM is being used. Check your computer for viruses.

Well, according to the Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart your GTX 550 Ti provides about the exact same level of performance as your HD 4890 did. So, while much of the system may have been an upgrade, this graphics card is still about as limited as your previous one. I believe this is why you're not noticing any significant changes in FPS.

my monitor is not wide, if a buy a 18.5" will be better, what you think?
because i read that wide monitors are better in gaming

No, it's your entry level graphics card trying to run the most graphics intensive games that is the problem. Scale back your resolution and the eye candy in the games in the game's control options. Your frame rate will probably smooth out, but won't look as detailed.

Your monitor is not causing lag. It is your graphics card.

As far as performance...

Sapphire 4890 = MSI GeForce GTX 550 Ti OC 1GB DDR5

You did not upgrade your graphics card at all... You got a card that performs the same.

If you want to have more FPS in BF3 you need to upgrade... Return the GTX 550 Ti and get a GTX 560 Ti, Radeon 6950 or a better card to improve your FPS.

This chart should help you decide.

It is recommended to go 3 tiers beyond what you already have to get a noticeable difference in gaming.
