Before I officially buy this 7970 matrix I would like to make sure I have a good enough power supply to be able to run it and overclock the card.

Currently I'm using a 700watt OCZ PSU that has 2 slots on it that are dedicated for 2 6+2 pin (8 Pin) Cables.

Currently not sure what AMPs the rail or rails run but I'm only planning on running this one card on it.

I currently am using a I5-2500k OC'd to 4.5Ghz with no over voltage and my RAM is stock clocked to 1866mhz.

Here is the graphics card.

The 7970 is a relative efficient card (compared to the older models) and you've got quite a powerful PSU. I depends a bit on the power you PSU can actual deliver on the PCIe rails but I think it should be safe. The recommend minimal PSU for an HD7970 is 650W but as you can see in several reviews, the actual power consumption is significantly lower. These reviews recommend a PSU of 550W so it's not you're close to the lower-margin. In none of the reviews, the power consumption load (even overclocked) is higher than 400W. I guess your PSU is 80+ certified so that means you've got 560W available for components.

Here are some usefull reviews regarding the power consumption.

http://nl.hardware.info/reviews/3186/7/asus-matrix-hd-7... (this one is in Dutch but as long as you remember that 'stroomverbruik' means powerconsumption you should be able the interpret the graphs)

The last review is actually really useful because it has a comparable processor (2600K@4.4), same memory and exactly this Asus card.
