New 6770 fan is dying zzz

so i have a <6 month old sapphire 6770 fan thats dying( i guess) its usually quiet but all of the sudden it sounds like a fuckin airplane or something so i assume the fan is going out.

the thing is it was a gift from someone over the internet and hes hard to get in contact with and i dont have several days to arrange an rma with him then wait a month or whatever to mess with sapphire.


can i just buy a replacement fan for this? if so could anyone point me into the right direction

The fan is not necessarily dying. If it is a single fan card, it might be stepping up the fan speed when the GPU temperature gets hot to cool it down. If it goes quite again when you are just engaged in non-GPU intensive use of your PC, then it means your GPU fan is still okay.

Single fan GPU's could be noisy and if it bothers you, you can get after market vga cooler for cooler temperature & quieter operation.
