Tweaktown benchmarks of gtx 670. Not sure if I believe these benchmarks yet.

http://slickdeals.net/?sdtid=4358774&sdfid=9&trd=http+www+tweaktown+com+articles+dex10+html&u2=http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/4710/nvidia_geforce_gtx_670_2gb_video_card_performance_preview/index10.html

How is this true? Would Nvidia really kill the 680 value with bringing the 670 @ $399, 100 bucks less with almost same performance as the more expensive 680??

if true this would definitely crush the entire AND lineup.

Dude... I do not trust Tweaktown benchmark, wait for the tom's hardware benchmark. To me it makes no sense to NVidia to release a card which is based from the same architecture, $100 cheaper and with less cores, which performs the same. If you compare their benchmark for the 680 to the tom's hardware one (or any trusted benchmark sites like techpowerup for example), their one is way off.

But yes this is my opinion, you can have your own opinion :)

I believe that the card is really great, and might also be very competing to HD 7970 itself, but what makes me burst into laugh from that review is that the GTX 670 is almost on par with a HD 6990 in 1920x1200 and 2500x resolutions!!!! this is ridiculous.

Careful, I posted this very thing yesterday, about how the TT review was suspect and I basically got flamed from everyone.

And I lol'd at Helltech's comment. Why would nVidia release a card that "kills" their single gpu flagship card? Doesn't seem like a good business model.

I know... it going to be tough getting our hands on one :fou: Looks sick!

Actually just saw the benchmarks from tom's hardware and techpowerup. There I can tell that it trade blows with 7970 :). What a cool card if it's really $400 and available... The second thing that comes up in my mind is, what is the point of NVidia releasing this card and the 680? hehehe, but just in note both 680 and 670 competes with 7970. And 680 compared to 670 shows very little difference. Third, thing, AMD should drop their prices again (called the AMD Price drop 2.0 :)(could be 3.0 when they release 660 Ti or GK105 or something lol). 7970 should be dropped around $425 (yes $25 more expensive because of faster compute unit and it's little bit faster than 670). While 7950 at $350, 7870 $300 (Might drop again when 660 Ti or something comes up).

I know, but that is not what I saw in techpowerup.

They used much more games than tom's hardware, so I think techpowerup one is more accurate (I think).

I checked newegg and they are on stock :). Good news for people who got budget $400. For people that already bought 680, it's OK guys, your card is faster, don't regret it :).

AMD needs to drop 7970 in $425 range as I said before, And I think this will really happen. After all, we win :).

Just ordered a EVGA superclocked 670 for 420$ on newegg since all the others are already out of stock, which has a supposed 20% performance increase putting it next to the 680. AMD Cards are dead, the drivers are bad and they are officially lost.

I'm planning to build a new rig in coming weeks but for now would sticking this card into a system with phenom II x4 965be @3.7ghz oc'ed and 4 gigs of ram be ok? I have a 600w 80+ OCZ psu. Wonder if it'll get bottlenecked? Or should I Just wait for my i5-3570k to arrive.

Their driver are not bad. I really wonder why all people say this??? Only about less than5% of the people may experience their driver is bad... Man, I'm tired of seeing this kind of post now.

AMD still haven't lost yet, they said they are going to make 7970 at 1050Mhz which should be on par with the 680. I'd expect Factory OC to be, maybe 1200Mhz!

@Vatican I think you're fine for now, since you are going to upgrade to a i5-3570k, Maybe you can get your 965 BE OC'd more?
