2500k or 3470

hi, what should i get the i5 3470 or 2500k. in my country they at the same price and im not thinking of OC in the near future.

people told me i should take the 2500k cuz it's unlocked but i see the charts and the 3470 preforms alot better and im not so much of an OC expert anyway.

what should i do?

Get the 3470. It doesn't perform a lot better, ivy bridge is about 5% better than sandy bridge clock for clock, and the 2500k is 100mhz faster. But none the less that 3470 is that little bit faster and uses less power so your utility bill will be a little smaller also.

i can't OC the 3470?

Only the "k" models can be overclocked. So the answer is no.

strictly speaking you can actually overclock the 3470--no where as much as a k version though

only to 4 bins upwards

so 3.8ghz on 4 cores

and might squeeze a little more by upping bclk a little

and probably at default voltage
