Memory not unloading

Forum Windows 7 : General Discussion Memory not unloading

Ive been getting bsod`s so i did a sys restore but my system is taking almost an hour to load desktop and the cpu ram metre in the side bar is showing that my ram is running at 98% and not dropping which is why everything is taking an eternity to load. I have 4GB GSkill DDR3 1000mhz.

The stop code for the bsod is 0x00000074

At one point i couldnt boot without running into a bsod so i did a system restore and i find that it boots to the main blue boot screen normally but them slows right down at that point.

I can boot into safe mode which is working normally (a good sign i hope) so i think and hope it is just a corrupt file or virus or some such, in fact i think the bsod code at the top of the page mentioned something about system config problem.

So i need to unload this ram asap and sort this problem out.

Any suggestions ?

Safe mode loads fewer system/hardware drivers than at the point of being at a fully operational desktop. Perhaps try reloading the correct system drivers starting with the MB/chipset and video card. Also any other hardware drivers like a wireless adapter, etc.

Make sure that the ram installed correctly according to the MB manual.
Make sure that it detected correctly in BIOS (speed, timings, voltage)
If not configure it manually if you have the option.
Try to use one module at a time. If you have, test with ram from other computer.
Run Memtest86....
Update Bios.

Ive got the latest bios for my board, ive tested the memory 1 at a time and no difference, i tested the memory using windows memory diagnostic and no problems found.

I have 2 HDD on my system and i just happen to have windows 7 RC on drive 2 which is working just fine so i dont think it is a problem with the RAM.

Im no longer able to boot into `safe mode` on my main drive it just loads all the drivers and then sits there with a black screen but the mouse cursor moves and when i boot into my main system it takes about an hour to fully load but something is hogging all the ram and not allowing it to unload.

I might reload the O/S on a new partition and move any stuff i want to keep across and then delete the old system and see how that goes; it might even be my main HDD that is the problem but no way to tell if i cant log in and run tests.

Any more ideas would be welcome at this stage.....

May be a longshot, but if you have them try new SATA cables.

This is 100% ram related issue.
Try manually set RAM parameters in BIOS, or better try deferent RAM.
If nothing helps, prepare to RMA you MB (unless ram resolved the issue). Test with memtest86, windows memory diagnostic let me down more than ones.
You can try the other bs, like cables, reinstating the windows etc, but like badge told here...not much of a chance it will do any good.
*note - after clean install you can get usble OS, but i dont think it will stay that way for long.
Sry for the bad news mate.

List the entire system specs including video card. List the driver used for the video card.
