I am looking for a CPU cooler compatible with my ASUS M3N78-em motherboard. It's a challenge to find a good cooler that doesn't require and extra back plate. If anyone can lead me in the direction of some good coolers that would work with my motherboard, it would be awesome.

CPU Specs:

Case - Thermaltake Commander MS-I White Edition
CPU - Phenom II X6 1055T (Will be overclocking)
Motherboard - ASUS M3N78-em

CoolerMaster 212 EVO as far as I'm aware will work.

The coolermaster hyper tx3 for sure doesnt require a back mounting plate

+1^ The tx-3 does not require any backplates but the 212 evo does perform better. If you do have a good computer case chances are you can simply screw in the backplate without removing the motherboard by sliding of the side panel from behind the motherboard. If you don't have that then you will need to take out the motherboard. Anyways I prefer the 212 evo.

Now that Scout_03 did bring up space you can easily fit both of them. If money is not a concern then the Noctua DH-14 is one of the best air coolers that beat the hyper 212 and TX-3 but is quite pricey.

If the DH-14 is too ugly for you (a lot of people say that   ) then go for this phanteks cooler:

Anyways if you are looking for a moderately priced cooler then the V6 GT is another option if you don't want maximum cooling power from the DH-14/Phanteks:

You may not want to buy it now since I do recall that on Black Friday for Newegg they sold it for 24.99 after a Mail in rebate, that's is essentially cheaper than the hyper 212 and is better. SO keep an eye on the cooler on black friday.

You may also want to look at this:

Edit: The black friday I was mentioning about was last year or maybe it was the year before. Either way just keep an eye on black friday sales since its fair game for any good CPU cooler to go on sale.
