I want to connect my HTPC and games console in the lounge to the internet via ethernet but my router is in the other room. Behind my TV there is a telephone jack. Can I hook another router (on top of my current, wireless one) up to this to give me an ethernet connection in the lounge? Is this even necessary? Otherwise, should I wire ethernet cables through the wall into this room? Wireless internet is not an option as we have an unbearable slow download speed and I think wireless would lead to a mental breakdown.
I am somewhat of a noob on the subject and so would really appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.

If the phone line in your lounge room is activated then you can use it with your modem and router for internet connection. Ethernet to your HTPC and console and wireless to device in your other room, probably with the use of another wireless router as a repeater.
