This is going to be my first time building a PC and wanted to hear some thoughts from people with experience. I want to use it mostly for games. I want to be able to play BF3, GTA 4, Skyrim, but also with movies (blue ray) and some general internet usage. I have a budget of $600-700. I also was thinking about hooking up to a 50in 1080i tv. I have been looking around for a day or two for parts and this is what i have come up with. Let me know what you think!

CPU- Intel Core i5-2400

MB- GIGABYTE GA-H77M-D3H Motherboard

Ram- Corsair CMV8GX3M2A1333C9 8GB Desktop Memory Kit

Video Card- EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti

Optical Drive- LG WH12LS39K Super Multi Blue Internal

Hard Dive- Western Digital WD5000AAKX Caviar Blue Hard Drive - 500GB

PSU- Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500-Watt

Case- Apevia X-TRPJR-BK X-Trooper Jr Mid Tower Case

Total Cost - $683.99 (Tiger Direct)

CoolerMaster PSU is a no go. Get corsair or the like :) You can drop the i5 for the i3-2120 and spend more on the GPU, which could get you a 7850. Im not sure about the case as Ive not heard of it XD.

Yea i was not sure about coolmaster. with the corsair or any other brand PSU, will most of them work with just about any motherboard, GPU and drives? or do i need to look at the connectors more closely. i looked at downgrading the CPU, but would the i3 still work for the games i want?

Yes the i3 will work, its a great gaming processor for the money. For PSU, its really hard to NOT go wrong with it, just see if it has sufficient cables and all. Just do some research and stuff. :)

I suggest upgrading the 550Ti as BF3 recommended system requirements say that a GTX560 is the recommended GPU. If you have some extra money lying around I say get a 6870 if you dont wanna spend much on the card. the 6870 is a great budget card and performs slightly faster than the GTX560 :)
