My Nephew wants to upgrade video in the I3 system I built him before D3 comes out he plays at 19x1080 he has 240 bucks to spend I know you can get a pair of 460 GTX 1gb refub on Newegg for 239.98 or a GTX 480 Refurb for 238.98 but in the under 250 price range is there any better video card?
SLI could have Micro stutter
480 you can make a roast on
And Sorry I am a diehard Intel NVidia fan boy so I just don’t know about the ATI line up
His MB would be an 8x/8x with two video cards installed (not a huge issue but just letting you know)

His Current video card is a 260 GTX

I have been using this site http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/314?vs=305 for benchmarks

I'd go with two 480 there boss!Just make sure his PSU can handle it and there is adequate cooling

If all he's looking to play is Diablo 3 then I'd go with the 460s in SLI or a single card that's not the 480. But D3 is not very GPU intensive, and there won't be any microstutter.

Why not get a 560 ti?

Because a 560 ti against two 460 in sli gets smoked that's why The GeForce GTX 560 is essentially a highly overclocked GeForce GTX 460 go with the two 460 it your best bang for buck option ;)

Yea but it will max out D3 easily and leave more room for upgrades in the future in the form of a 2nd 560.

Could bump your budget a little and get a used gtx 580 for $300. Newegg has a referb one for $320 with a promo code. It is over your budget but you will be set for a while.

240 is his budget with shipping I think that is his whole tax refund check if you ask me and I am not going to kick in the difference this time sure he is a good kid but I already do that way too often for my family.

I'd probably stick to 1 gtx 480 then, it might be a little slower but it also comes without the hassle that sli/crossfire bring.

I use 2 GTX 460 in SLI and it plays Diablo3 in max everything perfectly.

2 460's in SLI will outperform the 480 for sure, Regards
