Will the 7770 work for me?

I know very little about graphics cards. The one I'm using (came with the computer) is a Nvidia GeForce 9600 GS (not the GT). I'm thinking about upgrading to the Radeon HD 7770 but I'm wondering if it will even work.

The old card (9600 gs) is PCIE 2.0 and the 7770 is PCIE 3.0, will it still work? My power supply is a 350 Watt, and the 9600GS was a 400 Watt minimum, will the 7770 still work? The 7750 takes no power supply consumption (look it up) and the 7770 is only 1 step up..... ?

More about will 7770 work
  1. the card will work perfectly fine. the 7770 has a TDP around 85w and it only needs a 6-pin. PCI-E 3 is backwards-compatable with PCI-E 2 so it will wor fine.
  2. Thanks for your quick answer.

Now, another question, would the 7770 be my best bet to increase performence/fps in games like Counter-Strike Source/GO? For a price range around $100 to $180 max?
  3. Also, what about when I'm running the 7770 on full load?
  4. which model of psu?

  7. Get a 7750 if you plan on keeping that PSU.

    Otherwise,

    Corsair CX500 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027

    and

    Sapphire 6870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102948

    for a total of ~ 220$.

Those are your 2 best options.
