If you do have a kb or mouse atm, I'd hold on with upgrading it. You can use the $ saved on upgrading the HDD to 1TB.

@azeem- I do not currently have a kb or mouse currently. And because it is mainly a gaming rig, I chose the kb and mouse that I did.

@amkronos- At the moment I don't have the extra money to purchase a SSD, but that is definitely something I will buy in the future.

But in terms of the parts I have picked out, will everything be compatible when I put it together?

I dunno what price that 6950 is at but a 7850 performs the same, uses less power take up less heat and there is no micro stuttering issues from what I hear with the newer gen cards.

I would agree with going for the 7850 if the price isn't substantially more.

Newegg seems to be dead atm, but a gaming keyboard isn't really neccessary (I personally like generic 10$ keyboards as they are always the same shape), the only reason to get one is for macro keys which can be a hassle to setup and are not easy to reach (usually they are off to the side, not easy to reach from wasd).

I would personally downgrade the keyboard and put the money towards switching from the 6950->7850, or set it aside for the SSD fund :)

As others have said, an SSD is very nice to have once your budget allows, don't feel like you need to get a gigantic one, 120GB is plenty to store a five or six games and the OS. (Steam mover is great for managing what games or on your SSD) I personally use a 60GB drive, and really for me it is plenty of room after a little tweaking, I have room for about 4 games, along with the OS, open office, firefox, and drivers.

I think I will stay with the 6950 because AMD is offering free game coupons with the purchase and the performance and the price are both the same.
Has anyone heard if Newegg is still dead or what is going on?
